About Ounasvaaran Lakituvat

Perched atop the stunning escarpment of Ounasvaara, among the starkly beautiful evergreen forest, Lakituvat is ideal for those in search of peace and relaxation. Located in Finland's most northerly province, Lapland, the nearby town of Rovaniemi is a lively and friendly outpost that brushes the southerly edge of the Arctic Circle and is depending on who you speak to said to be the home of Lapland's most famous resident, Father Christmas.

Each luxurious chalet covers over 60m², catering for up to six people across two double bedrooms and a cosy twin room in the loft. Because of their roomy layout, they're perfect for families. The chalets feature vibrant living areas with squashy red sofas perfect for cosying up in, with open fireplaces creating a lovely glow that warms the cockles. In the freezing winter months (or all year round, we won't tell) you'll be grateful of the sauna, not to mention the drying cupboard which ensures your clothes are warm and toasty after a day on the slopes. Each chalet has a fully-equipped kitchen for whipping up warming dishes or entertaining friends and family.

When it comes to dining, not only do you have the option of cooking in your chalet, you can also order dinner to your door or dine out at the nearby Sky Hotel Restaurant, which is consistently ranked in Finland's top ten restaurants. Depending on the season, you can take part in husky dog sledding, snowmobiling, skiing or ice driving, or perhaps meeting Santa Claus himself. In the summer months, the area is replete with beautiful flora and fauna, and hiking, canoeing, fishing and foraging for berries are all popular activities. The Santa Sport Centre, with its wellbeing and spa facilities, is just a short walk away.
