This will take you down Roman streets and around millenia-old houses, temples, shops, cafes, amphitheatres and brothels which were covered in burning pumice stone at the time of the cataclysmic eruption. This snapshot of life during the Roman Empire, which was preserved under ash until excavation, is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
After exploring Pompeii, you will travel to Mount Vesuvius itself. Standing at 1,281 meters high, its historic eruption also destroyed Stabiae and Herculaneum. Climb to the summit with your guide and admire the splendid views across the Bay of Naples. Enjoy a picture-perfect moment from the top of this active volcano. Capture the shimmering Amalfi Coast as the sun begins to set.
