Where in the world

Tuscany, Italy

This introductory lesson in ceramics is sure to bring out your creative side. Your driver transports you through the picture-perfect scenery of Tuscany to Fiesole, where the Scuola di Ceramica Fantoni overlooks the splendid city of Florence. After an enlightening lesson, your creation will be delivered to your hotel once the cooking process is complete.

This workshop was established in the 1930s by Marcello Fantoni, whose works are displayed in Tokyo, New York and London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. Today, it is run by Marcello Fantoni’s granddaughter, who you may meet during your visit. Before your session begins, you may view some of Fantoni’s works which are exhibited here – the perfect way to get some inspiration.

Under the instructive eye of the master potter, you will discover how to choose a subject and which materials to use. The lesson will also cover glazing and painting techniques. Alternatively, it can be tailored around any more specific interests or ideas.

Additional notes about the tour

It takes around three days for the cooked ceramics to be delivered to the hotel. Clients should bear this in mind if only staying in the vicinity for a short time.

This experience is only available to book as part of an A&K tailor-made holiday.
