Founded in 1881 by Jewish pioneers from Romania, ‘Zichron’ was one of the first modern settlements in Israel. A few years later, it was developed by Baron Edmond James de Rothschild, who allotted housing plots for settlement farmers and established the region’s first winery since the ban of alcohol over 1000 years ago.
