Why we like it

  • Located within the 85,000 acres of pristine wilderness in the Mathews Range
  • The camp works closely with the local Samburu people
  • A small and remote camp with only six tents
  • Dramatic views of the Mathews Mountains
  • Visit the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary; a community and wildlife initiative looking after orphaned elephants aiming to release back to the wild
  • Top tip: Not to be missed is a visit to the famous 'Sarara Singing Wells'. The Samburu warriors bring their cattle down to watering wells on a daily basis during the dry season. Human chains are formed down these wells, some of which are 10 metres deep, and while passing water up to the surface they will chant traditional Samburu songs. This whole amazing and unique process can last up to several hours a day
