About Cleopatra Mountain FarmhouseHigh in the Drakensberg Mountains, Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse sits adjacent to the Highmoor Nature Reserve. Famous for its hiking routes and fly-fishing lakes, this is a great location for those hoping to see South Africa’s more hidden creatures and rarer bird species.
Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse offers six bedrooms and a delightful restaurant set around a small lake. Each of the spacious rooms is styled on a different theme. However, you’ll find snug down duvets and pillows, crisp cotton sheets and claw-foot bathtubs in all of them.
A day exploring in the clear mountain air will prepare you for a truly exceptional dinner. Owner Richard Poynton, who’s worked under Europe’s leading chefs, prepares seven-course feasts which change seasonally for the freshest ingredients. The dining room overlooking the lake is the perfect complement to these lovingly prepared meals. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, fantastic setting, wild décor and superb food here make Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse the perfect base for a countryside break in South Africa.
