Highlights

Uganda gorilla trek & Kenya's Great Migration

Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime safari through the natural wonders of Uganda and Kenya.

Begin your journey with a trek through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and spend time with the elusive mountain gorillas. Explore one of the oldest rainforests in the world which is nestled among mountains and volcanic slopes.

Next stop is the Masai Mara in Kenya – home to the Big Five. Join your expert safari guide for the best spot to view the Great Migration - one of the greatest natural shows on Earth - and enjoy a hot-air balloon safari.

As you travel across these diverse Africa countries you will get the chance to visit and help two A&K Philanthropy projects.

Arrive Nairobi

Arriving from London, you’ll step out into Nairobi’s balmy evening air. We’ll be there to meet and take you to your hotel for a relaxing evening before your African adventure begins.

Entebbe – Bwindi

Today, you will travel from Nairobi to Bwindi. After a change of aircraft in Entebbe you will arrive at your lodge mid-afternoon. The rest of the day is yours at leisure to relax after the journey or take a short, guided walk through some of the trails. Set in an evergreen terrain, the waterfall is truly a sight to see. Listen to your guide as he points out monkeys, birds, butterflies, tree species and colourful fauna as you take your brisk walk through this amazing place.

Bwindi

Today you will explore one of the oldest rainforests in the world for Uganda's mountain gorillas. The primeval jungle is nestled among mountains and volcanic slopes. After breakfast, your guide will escort you to the Uganda Wildlife Authority Park headquarters where you will meet your gorilla guide. The trek is at a high altitude and can take up to six hours or longer. While the gorillas can be elusive and sightings cannot be guaranteed, our success rate is over 95 per cent. One you have a sighting you will get within metres of a family and be privileged to spend up to one hour among the troop.

Bwindi

Enjoy your second track into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest today. This is an opportunity to put your camera down and enjoy the hour that you will have just watching the gorillas at play. This afternoon you can visit an A&K Philanthropy (AKP) project; the Bwindi Community Hospital and nursing school which started in 2003 as an outreach clinic under a tree. Today it is a 122-bed hospital that serves more than 100,000 people in the area – get involved and sit with the expectant mothers and participate in one of their projects such as knitting items for their new-borns.

Bwindi – Kenya

Today it is time to leave the rainforest and head to the open plains of the Masai Mara. A short flight back to Entebbe will allow you to connect with a direct flight to the Masai Mara. Arrive in time for a new adventure and head out in a 4x4 open custom-made safari vehicle offering all-round views, allowing for excellent photography opportunities of the Big Five which roam in the Kenyan national park.

Masai Mara

Two full days of adventure lie ahead in the Masai Mara. Join your guide on two daily safari drives to discover this fascinating eco system which is home to lion, elephant, and cheetah. Allow your guide to take you to all the hidden spots to maximise your safari experience and witness one of the greatest natural shows on Earth, the Great Migration when in season. You will also get the chance to visit another AKP project at a Mara school. Help to serve lunch and see how LifeStraw provides the pupils with clean drinking water.

Depart Kenya

Wake up to the sound of hippos chortling in the river below and head off on your last morning safari adventure in the plains of the Masai Mara. Take to the skies and enjoy a hot- air-balloon safari to spot wildlife from the sky while enjoying the beauty of the open plains. After you have landed celebrate in style with a champagne breakfast. Return to the lodge and get ready to fly back to Nairobi. On arrival in Nairobi a day room has been organised for you at the airport until your flight departs.
