Highlights

Life along the Mekong

The Mekong flows through the heart of South-east Asia, from the Tibetan Plateau to the sea. Your tour follows this majestic river’s journey through Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Gilded temples, ancient monuments, thrilling cities and all the fascinating life on the Mekong are yours to experience. Starting amid the temples of Luang Prabang you’ll drift in pampered comfort through the dramatic landscapes of the Four Thousand Islands. Angkor Wat will loom into view and the infectious energy of Phnom Penh will charm you. Relax on our luxury cruise ship as the life on the Mekong spills into Vietnam’s exciting metropolis, Ho Chi Minh City.

UK - Luang Prabang, Laos

After your overnight flight via Bangkok, you'll arrive in Luang Prabang. This is Laos’ loveliest city, known for its gilded temples and colonial mansions. After arriving at your deluxe hotel, you can take a gentle stroll up Mount Phousi to enjoy the spectacular sunset over the waiting Mekong. If you rise early you can join the locals seeking to gain merit by offering alms to a procession of monks. A dip in the bright turquoise pools at the base of the beautiful Kuang Si Falls may not help your karma but it will be refreshing!

Champasak, Laos

Following the Mekong, you'll fly to Pakse and we’ll drive you to your boutique riverside hotel, in prime position for exploring the dramatic terraced setting of the pre-Angkorian ruins at Vat Phou. A private boat will take you on a tour around the dreamlike Four Thousand Islands where you can discover the charms of Don Khon by bicycle. On the island you’ll find remote waterfalls and deserted sandy beaches.

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Leaving Laos on a short flight to Cambodia you’ll stay in Siem Reap. Angkor Wat calls: and it’s best to take your time and soak up the atmospheric temple complex. Jump on a bicycle to get around: take in the Bayon Temple’s 200 carved faces and Ta Phrom’s tree root-infested crumbling ruins. Stay to watch the sun set slowly over Angkor: we know just the spot for the best views. If you can tear yourself away from the temples we recommend exploring the crafts and antiques at the Old Market and taking a boat trip passed the stilted houses and wildlife of the Tonle Sap lake.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

From laid back Angkor to bustling Phnom Penh, widely considered the most beautiful French-built city in Indochina. Amble the wide boulevards past colonial architecture to the riverfront of the Paris of the East. Explore centuries of Khmer art at the National Museum, including sculptures, ceramics, bronzes and ethnographic objects, and discover Wat Phnom, one of the city's oldest temples at the top of a scenic hill.

Mekong Cruise

For the next four days you’ll cruise down the Mekong River aboard the Aqua Mekong. On your floating five-star hotel there are floor-to-ceiling windows, a spa and a swimming pool.  As rice paddies pass by, you'll see floating markets, fishermen, temples and buffalo. There are plenty of stops as you cross into Vietnam and head for the Mekong Delta, but, understandably, some clients are loth to disembark.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Leave your floating hotel and head for the bright lights of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). You’ll stay in the heart of District 1, in a high-end hang out with rooftop bar overlooking the busy streets below. This is one of Southeast Asia’s most exciting cities and you can see it come to life on an after-dark tour from the back of a vintage Vespa scooter. You’ll stop for street food and to dance the night away in an acoustic music club. Don’t miss the War Museum’s rusted tanks or the Vietcong’s base in the Cu Chi Tunnels.
