About The Datai

An ancient rainforest on the north western tip of Langkawi Island is home to The Datai, an exclusive, romantic hideaway bordered by a white sandy beach and the supreme tranquillity of the Andaman Sea. Perfectly at ease in its tropical surroundings, The Datai is famed for excellent, friendly service, a relaxed, intimate atmosphere and accommodation that blends local materials with contemporary design.

The Datai's rooms, villas and suites, all with spacious bedrooms, living areas and private verandas, are inspired by local architecture, featuring exposed beams, polished wooden floors and bamboo screens among the understated décor. All boast amazing views of the natural landscape - be it the lush jungle or the shimmering Andaman Sea, where only Tarutao Island punctures the horizon. Our favourite are the Rainforest Villas, with their individual, free-standing suites sheltering under the rainforest canopy. Connected to the main resort by stone pathways, these elegant villas are immaculately designed to offer beautiful accommodation in total privacy. Each have refreshing rainfall showers and outdoor spaces for dining and relaxation.

Join one of the complimentary tours, tailored for families or adults, led by naturalist Irshad Mobarak who will unveil the mysteries of the 10 million year old rainforest, home to wildlife rarely found anywhere else in the world. Sea adventurers have a selection of activities available or can be guided by the resident marine biologist through the myriad of aquatic life. Alternatively relax on the wooden schooner, Naga Pelangi, and tour around Langkawi's archipelago. For the ultimate massage, try the spa's signature Datai Massage - allow the synchronised attention of two therapists to create a sensation of peace and well-being. Suitably refreshed and relaxed, enjoy a beach dining experience. Atmospheric and romantic it is an unforgettable, intimate evening under the stars, with a private waiter serving delicious food and fine wine in a candlelit beach setting.

This property is currently closed for a very exciting renovation. It will be reopening in middle of 2018 when they will be welcoming guests again. Please speak to a travel consultant for more details on dates and developments.
