Where in the world

Perth, Western Australia, Australia

After meeting your A&K driver-guide, board the ferry from Freemantle to Rottnest Island. This remarkable destination is packed with beautiful beaches and a great many weird and wonderful creatures. On arrival, you can choose to get around by bicycle or with a ride on the Island Explorer bus. Lunch is served with sweeping ocean views, before you get the chance to track quokka, a rare marsupial found here.

Learn a little about the island’s past with visits to Bathurst Lighthouse and the living quarters of the mid-19th-century jailers from when Rottnest was used as an Aboriginal open prison. You may also visit some of the island’s museums and World War II relics.

The fantastic Quokka Walk takes you to the heart of this creature’s habitat. As you scan the lush woodland, you’ll learn why these animals thrive here. You will also discover some of the endemic flora which makes these forests unique.
