UK - Marrakech
Fly to Marrakech, where you’ll be met by a member of the team and driven to Les Jardins de la Medina, your home for the next three nights. It’s a great place to start your Moroccan adventure.
You'll meet your private guide and begin discovering the Rose City. Start with the Bahia Palace, erected on the order of the great vizier Sidi Moussa in 1880. Afterwards, there’s time to visit the Dar Si Said Museum to admire beautifully decorated weapons, clothing and jewellery. After lunch, you'll head to the Ben Youssef Medersa Koranic School and the influential Koutoubia Mosque, with its minaret that dominates the skyline.
Today you'll have the day free to enjoy the hotel and take in the atmosphere of Marrakech some more. This major economic center is packed with mosques, markets and gardens. Wander through its historic streets, drinking in the enticing sights and smells of one of Africa’s great cities. Do some shopping for craftwork and pottery and visit the buzzing street food stalls of Djemaa El-Fna square in the evening.
Marrakech - Atlas Mountains
We’ll drive you from Marrakech out through the countryside to the Atlas Mountains, North Africa's greatest mountain range, for a two-night stay at delightful Kasbah Bab Ourika. These ancient, rocky mountains loom all around, holding many secrets that you’ll discover over the next few days.
Enjoy a day exploring the Atlas Mountains, with a trek through the Ourika Valley. You'll walk south along the river, through the Berber villages of Timalize and Tamzendent and the salt mine and villages of Akhilij and Tagadirt. Continue through the forested valley towards Tourirt, among groves of fruit trees. You’ll be accompanied by an English-speaking mountain guide, a muleteer and a mule to carry supplies including a picnic lunch.
Atlas Mountains – Essaouira
Today we drive you to Essaouira where your hotel will be the lovely Villa de l'O in the heart of the old town. On arrival, you'll have some free time to relax or wander around this attractive coastal town. It’s rich in history, but also making its name among the younger crowd as one of the world’s surfing capitals.
Together with your private guide you'll enjoy a half day walking tour of historic Essaouira. Its islands were inhabited as early as the 7th century BC and pottery found here proves the presence of both Carthaginians and Phoenicians. The Portuguese fortified the city in the 16th century and named it Mogador.
Essaouira - UK
After a hearty breakfast, you'll be driven back to Essaouira airport or Marrakech to catch your flight back home.
