Domain des Hauts de Loire is a handsome hunting lodge situated in Loire, the French ‘Valley of the Kings’. The exterior of this 19th-century château is striking. Vines climb up the walls and archways to meet charming French windows; and steep, slate-grey rooftops sharpen to a tip to meet the sky. All this is set before a 70-hectare park of manicured lawns, bushy trees and swan-plied waters.

Enter to find an interior just as elegant. Tasteful use of patterned wallpaper and fabrics add character to the sophisticated living spaces. The property’s comfortable rooms and suites are divided between the main house and the carriage house, all boasting views of the park grounds or the shimmering pond.

During your stay, indulge in the superlative cuisine prepared at Domain des Hauts de Loire’s two-Michelin-star restaurant. Head chef Rémy Giraud creates menus that showcase the region’s best produce. He also hosts cookery classes – perfect for guests wishing to hone their talents in the kitchen.

Domain des Hauts de Loire is situated in Onzain, just a two-hour drive from Paris and set along the Valley’s wine route. It’s a luxurious base from which to visit Loire’s renowned châteaux such as Chambord, or tour its celebrated vineyards and tasting houses.
