Highlights

Classic Summer Iceland

Enjoy summer in Iceland as you discover this country of waterfalls and wildlife. You’ll begin your journey in Reykjavik, this is a colourful capital, where you will explore its museums and landmarks. Then head to the Golden Circle to see its geysers, waterfalls and craters at Thingvellir National Park. Get close to Iceland’s volcanoes in the south shore where you’ll see Seljarlandsfoss waterfall and Eyjafjallajokull glacier. On your penultimate day, enjoy a super jeep safari showcasing the Thorsmork Valley.

Arrive

Arrive at Keflavik airport which is small, colourful, friendly and straightforward: much like the country itself. The Lego-like installations dotted around like building blocks give it the feel of a giant playground. Your driver will be waiting to welcome you in the arrivals hall. He’ll then take you straight to your hotel.

Golden Circle

Spend the day exploring the Golden Circle, the region that showcases the best of the country's natural beauty. Take in the powerful geysers, magnificent waterfalls and volcanic craters of Thingvellir National Park. You can marvel at The Great Geyser, Iceland’s most famous, and Stokkur, its most energetic. See the powerful Gullfoss waterfall and the inky blue waters that fill the crater of Kerid volcano in Grimsnes.

South Shore

Iceland's volcanic south shore has more magnificent waterfalls and black sand beaches. It’s your playground for today! Seljarlandsfoss waterfall flows with the meltwater of the famous Eyjafjallajokull glacier, dropping a dramatic 60 feet over the cliffs. A footpath behind the waterfall affords a truly unique perspective. Be prepared to get a little wet! You’ll also see the basalt sea stack at Reynisdrangar and Skogarfoss waterfall, one of Iceland’s most beautiful. Experience the thrill of exploring Solheimajokull glacier by snowmobile and see the basalt sea stacks at Reynisdrangar before heading on to Skogarfoss waterfall.

Thorsmork

Today is all about adrenalin-fuelled adventure. You’ll take a super-jeep safari in the Thorsmork Valley and explore the Gigjokull glacial outlet. Take a short hike into the canyon of Stakkholtsgja and you’ll be rewarded with the sight of a beautiful waterfall. A walk to Basar affords more spectacular views and over 170 species of plants, moss and lichen. End the day exploring the Seljalandsfoss and Gljufrabui waterfalls. A delicious lunch is included.

Reykjanes Peninsula

Visit the otherworldly lava landscape of the Reykjanesskagi Peninsula. At crystal-clear Kleifarvatn Lake, you’ll learn how an earthquake in 2000 drained 20 per cent of the lake’s surface, and how it regained its water levels by 2008. The next natural phenomenon is Seltun Geothermal Area. Here, you will see striking green, yellow and red soils coloured by sulphuric deposits. Finally follow some unbeaten paths to pass mountains and lava fields. Your stay at The Retreat includes entrance to the lagoon.

Depart Iceland

After breakfast it’s time to bid a fond farewell to Iceland. We’ll take you back to the airport for your return flight home.
