UK – Florence

Upon arrival in Florence, collect your rental car and settle in at Hotel L'Orologio. Set out on a walking tour of the world’s favourite renaissance city with your local expert guide. Stroll through the city admiring its piazzas, churches and palaces, stopping at the Galleria dell'Accademia to see Michelangelo's David. Visit the Duomo and climb the 464 steps for a breath-taking view over the city. Finish with a visit to the Church of San Lorenzo and Medici chapels, then be sure to visit one of Florence’s famous gelato shops.

Florence

Today experience the vibrant sights and sounds of a local food market with a guided tour.  Enjoy a private hands-on cooking lesson tailored to your level of ability, tastes and interests. Learn some of the secrets of the local and national cuisine. This afternoon, pre-book a visit to the Uffizi Gallery, which is housed in the Palazzo degli Uffizi, originally designed for the Uffizi of the Medici Grand Duke Cosimo. Later, the Medici decided to house their art collection here and it opened as Europe’s first modern museum in 1591.

Florence and Pisa

Today, you may choose to drive to Pisa and see the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Situated in the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), the campanile is a unique architectural masterpiece. Alternatively, let us arrange a private guide to show you Florence’s many shops and boutiques. Drawing on a rich tradition of skilled craftsmanship, there’s ample opportunity to discover high fashion and unique gifts and souvenirs. Following a busy day, your tour consultant can make dinner recommendations for traditional Tuscan food.

Chianti

Heading out from Castello del Nero, venture into the heart of the Chianti Classico production area. Here you can visit Castello di Brolio; an imposing medieval castle, which has been the home of the Ricasoli family since 1141. Bettino Ricasoli, born in 1809, was credited with establishing the modern form of Chianti, based on the Sangiovese grape. Take a guided tour of the wine cellars and estate vineyards then enjoy a wine tasting. Back at the hotel, sample some of Tuscany’s finest extra virgin olive oils from the 12th-century cellar.

Val d’Orcia

Today, take in the views of Val d’Orcia and its beautiful landscape encircling medieval villages, cypress groves and rolling hills. Enjoy a walk in the unspoilt countryside, stopping for a luxury picnic lunch. From here, head back to Castello del Nero where a wealth of experiences can be arranged. Choices range from gelato making with master maker, Sergio Dondoli to the more unusual stargazing and pottery classes. Take part in a complimentary yoga class or relax in the spa following a workout, all with an idyllic vista through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Siena

This morning, visit the intimate medieval walled city of Siena, with its captivating architecture. The city centre’s unique Piazza del Campo is considered as one of the finest main squares in Italy. It also becomes the racetrack for the Palio horse race twice a year.  Climb the Torre del Mangia and visit Duomo with the unforgettable frescoes in the Piccolomini Library. Return to the hotel to enjoy a cooking class where you’ll learn to cook classic Italian ingredients – guided by executive chef, Giovanni Luca Di Pirro.

Florence – UK

After breakfast, it’s time to prepare to bid farewell to tranquil Tuscany as you depart to return home to the UK. If you want to explore further, you have the option to extend your stay by adding another city to your itinerary – or booking a longer stay at Castello del Nero.
