About Castell Son Claret
This fairy-tale chateaux captures your attention from the minute you arrive at the impressive palm-lined driveway that frames the historic buildings: only four years ago the former castle was renovated into a luxurious contemporary hotel, Castell Son Claret. The main building is hidden among acres of estate dotted with orange, lemon, persimmon and pomegranate groves, while vines and ivy creep their way up the rustic stonework. Housing just 38 guest rooms and suites, the hotel feels serenely quiet. Each room is uniquely decorated with dark woods and classic furnishings in typical Mallorquín style; most rooms have balconies overlooking the grounds.
Castell Son Claret is home to Michelin-starred restaurant Zaranda, relocated from Madrid by Chef Fernando Perez Arellano, who gained his first Michelin star aged just 27; Arrellano uses fresh herbs and spices from the gardens to create unforgettable combinations of taste and texture, and the hotel also hosts Olivera, a traditional a la casa restaurant offering all-day dining and Mediterranean snacks and breakfasts, a much-lauded onsite bakery and a stunning bar, set in the former chapel. The knowledgeable staff will help you choose the perfect bottle to complement your meal from the hotel's impressive wine cellar.
The ideal place for relaxation and rejuvenation, you can while away sunny days beside the outdoor pool or simply wander through the colourful gardens blanketed by bergamot and orange blossom. On the castle's lower floors you will find the spa, Bellesa de Claret, which offers a variety of beauty treatments and has its own hamman. Alternatively, you can opt to enjoy a treatment in one of their tented treatment rooms in a location of your choice. The capital of Palma de Majorca is just a 20 minute drive away, and has many galleries, museums and restaurants worth visiting, while south of the island you will find almost 54km of sandy beaches with dazzling aquamarine waters.
