Explore the scenic waters of southeast Alaska as you cruise and sea kayak in search of humpback whales.
Your adventure begins with a boat cruise to the Channel Islands State Marine Park. Hop on a six-passenger motorboat and set out from Auke Bay to travel up the stunning Inside Passage. While your captain keeps a look out for whales, a naturalist guide will tell you all about southeast Alaska’s seascape and marine life. Keep an eye out for movement in the waters – the area is also a hot spot for seals, porpoises and sea lions.
The boat will drop you off at a remote beach, where there’s time for a snack before you launch your tandem kayak. Once on the water, you’ll glide across gloriously clear seas. As you peacefully paddle and soak up the snow-capped mountain scenery, your expert guide will lead you in search of even closer whale encounters. This region is the richest humpback whale feeding ground in Alaska, so your chances of spotting these majestic creatures up close are impressively high.
