Spend a memorable few hours viewing black and brown bears in their natural habitat on a fly-in bear-watching experience.
Your wildlife adventure begins with a scenic floatplane journey from Lake Hood to Redoubt Bay Lodge, sitting at the edge of beautiful Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. This small rustic lodge enjoys a wonderful setting amongst one of Alaska’s biggest black and brown bear populations.
From the lodge, the open wilderness is waiting to be explored. Climb on board a pontoon boat and head out on Big River Lakes to watch the bears feed on the spawning salmon that leap through the streams flowing into the lake.
Bears are typically shy creatures. Here, in this salmon-rich region, they are so intent on fishing for their favourite food that you can observe them unnoticed. Your naturalist guide will be on hand to tell you about the bears’ habits and habitats, while you make the most of the unrivalled photo opportunities.
