About Winterlake Lodge
Named one of America's best lodges by Travel & Leisure Magazine, Winterlake Lodge is a northern oasis of amazing scenery, sophisticated comfort and wilderness adventure. Nearly 200 miles northwest of Anchorage, Carl and Kirsten Dixon's remote lodge lies on 15 acres overlooking the two-mile long Finger Lake and the Tordrillo Mountains. Winterlake is one of the few fly-in lodges that is open year round. It can accommodate only a small number of guests at a time, allowing Carl and Kirsten to create a truly personalised experience.
The lodge is on the route of the world famous Iditarod dog sled race and serves as the Finger Lake checkpoint. Behind the lodge, Wolverine Mountain offers intriguing hiking excursions and wildlife viewing.
The owners have an interest in Alaskan cuisine and have even published two cookbooks, and the lodge has an emphasis on culinary excellence and education. You are welcome to join Kirsten in the kitchen at any time for an impromptu wine tasting or cooking class, or even to help with the cooking.
