Along with your private expert guide, explore the famed Joshua Tree National Park – named for the distinctive Joshua trees (yucca brevifolia), supposed so-called because the trees reminded settlers of the biblical figure of Joshua reaching for the sky. Discover the area’s adaptive plants and fascinating wildlife, along with its history, geology and ecology.
Tour the park’s two desert systems – the Mojave and the Colorado. These two ecosystems are both arid but look profoundly different thanks to their relative elevations. In the “low desert” of the Colorado temperatures are higher than the “high desert” of the Mojave, which is relatively wetter and less sparse. The transition between the two is surprisingly abrupt – see it for yourself.
Take the time to take in the incredible rock formations, unparalleled panoramas and, if in at park at sunset, the breath-taking colours of the sky as day cedes ground to night.
This tour is appropriate for everyone from the novice hiker to the experienced, backcountry adventurer.
