Chocolate may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Napa Valley, but allow us to change that… This legendary destination is famed as a place of Michelin stars, award-winning wineries and bucolic views. However, it’s also home to a wildly creative master chocolatier, famed for his stop-you-in-your-tracks creations and nice-enough-to-eat emporium (that is quickly becoming a culinary destination in its own right).
At his artisan chocolate shop in Yountville, guests can indulge in all their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory dreams on a behind-the-scenes tour, tasting and demonstration at Kollar Chocolates with a real-life Willy Wonka – Chris Kollar. A largely self-taught chocolatier, Kollar has a particular passion for the sweet stuff and is inspired by European classic chocolate making.
A&K is privileged to be able to offer this exclusive experience privately – clients will enjoy after-hours access to the emporium and its famed glass-enclosed display kitchen in the company of the chef patron himself. During the one-hour demonstration, you’ll learn the history of chocolate and how to make truffles and pralines. In addition, the young and young at heart might enjoy painting a large shape such as an owl or a heart.
