Meet with your A&K representative on a private cycling tour of Dana Point.
This harbour city is located in southern Orange County in California – halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego. Ride along the city’s coastal paths and enjoy the pristine oceanscapes, romantic outlooks and beach stretches.
Named for Richard Henry Dana, who arrived by trading ship in or around 1835 and proclaimed the area “the most romantic spot on the coast”. The city has been enticing whale-watchers and surfers (and surfer spotters) ever since. In the 1950s and 60s, the surf breaks here – such as Killer Dana and Doheny – were huge and notorious. California’s first surf shop was opened in 1954 by Orange County local Hobie Alter and it still can be visited.
Today the town still looks outward – it revolves around its bustling harbour. From November to April, migrating grey whales can be seen and from April to October, humpback, orca, fin and minke whales can also be spotted.
Afterwards, pop your bicycle in your self-hire car’s boot and hit California Highway One for further exploration of the OC.
