Highlights

Classic New England

This tailor made New England self drive takes you from the thrum of Boston city life to the wider expanses of New England’s tranquil landscapes. It starts in historic Boston’s Italian North End and busy financial district before the Freedom Trail leads you further afield. You’ll then journey on into classic New England. Heading through New Hampshire to Maine, you might want to explore idyllic Ogunquit en route to Scarborough. Maine’s picturesque lakes region, Mount Washington, and Route 7’s famous autumn colours all lead on to Cape Cod’s picturesque National Seashore.

UK - Boston

You will be driven to the Fairmont Copley Plaza in historic Boston directly from your flight. Your hotel is in an ideal location from which to explore this historic city. Boston's Italian North End, bustling financial district, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall Marketplace and TD Garden are all very close by.

Scarborough & Maine

Head north in your hire car to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. A working port since colonial days, this small city is home to the Strawbery Banke area, one of America's oldest neighbourhoods. Journeying on, you’ll want to visit Ogunquit for a leisurely walk along the Marginal Way, a dramatic mile-long footpath across rugged Atlantic clifftops. Then on to Scarborough and the oceanfront Black Point Inn, your home for the next two nights.

Mount Washington & New Hampshire

You’re now heading into classic New England, as you travel through Maine's picturesque lakes region and into New Hampshire's White Mountains. Here you can enjoy a laid back stroll, take a challenging hike, or play a round of golf on one of the immaculate courses. And with an abundance of glorious mountain lakes and streams, swimming, boating, or simply basking in the sun are all on the menu too.

Woodstock & Vermont

The journey on into Vermont, the Green Mountain state, is one of yet more scenic highways. Wooden covered bridges crossing streams and rivers lead the way into Quechee Gorge, Vermont's 'little Grand Canyon’. And at the end of the day you can ease into the timeless elegance of the Woodstock Inn, where you’ll stay for the next two nights.

Lenox & Massachusetts

The next stage of your tailor made New England tour takes you along scenic Route 7. This winding drive, famous for its autumn foliage, will take you through the Green Mountains via Manchester, Vermont to Lenox itself. Your two-night stay here at the elegant Cranwell Resort will afford you the perfect chance to visit Tanglewood, the Boston Symphony's summer home. What’s more, the Norman Rockwell Museum is just a short trip down the road in neighbouring Stockbridge.

Newport & Rhode Island

The drive through central Massachusetts and onto Rhode Island's coast is hugely scenic and rich with history. The Vanderbilts and Astors had their opulent summer homes here in Newport, whilst John F Kennedy married Jacqueline Bouvier in the local church. The Old Stone Mill is believed to have been built by Vikings around 1100AD. Enjoy your two-night stay here at the iconic Vanderbilt Grace.

Chatham & Cape Cod

Arriving at Cape Cod, you’ll see the quintessential New England coastline stretched out ahead. Lighthouses, quaint coastal communities and genteel waters abound along the National Seashore. Discover the Mayflower II, a replica of the ship that carried the pilgrims to the New World at Plymouth Rock near by. Provincetown, meanwhile, is a lively artist colony. And with whale watching and sandy beaches too, your two nights at the Chatham Bars Inn will be the perfect finale to a classic New England self drive.

Boston - UK

Before bidding a final farewell to New England, make sure you visit Sandwich. Its notable Heritage Museum and gardens and Sandwich Glass Museum are not to be missed. Here you’ll discover a charming display of cranberry glass, once the town's primary industry. Then return your car to Boston airport before your flight home.
