Where in the world

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Take part in one of Argentina’s most celebrated traditions with an exciting tango lesson in Café Tortoni – a landmark coffeehouse in Buenos Aires. During your three-hour session in a private room of this atmospheric establishment, you’ll learn the essential steps and intriguing history of the energetic dance style from a professional dancer.

Admire the coffeehouse’s green marble tables and ornate interior architecture as you step, kick and promenade. This is where all the cultural icons of Argentina would come to be show their faces, including poet Alfonsina Storni, painter Benito Quinquela Martín and singer Carlos Gardel.

Tango came to the world’s top dancefloors via the cultural melting pot of Buenos Aires’ slums in the 18th century. Initially looked down upon by high society, it eventually gained the respect and admiration of all social classes and is now seen as a quintessential Argentinian tradition. As you discover the rhythms of tango, you will come to understand the passion that brought this dance to life.
