Northeast Beach Adventure

Fly overnight from the UK to Fortaleza, on Brazil’s northeastern tip.

From Fortaleza, you will take an internal flight and transfer to Sao Luis. On arrival, you will have time to experience some of the city’s traditions and culture with your local guide. Discover the many mansions and squares making up this UNESCO World Heritage Site and experience first-hand some of the cultural traditions still alive today. Your guide will then take you to your hotel in Barreirinhas – the gateway to the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.

After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, the morning is yours to enjoy. After lunch, you will travel in a 4x4 to Brazil’s Blue Lagoon. First, cross the Preguiças River by ferry before a 40-minute hike into Lençóis Maranhenses State Park. Also known as the Brazilian Sahara, this park offers incredible scenery of infinite oceans and tall white dunes, as well as thousands of crystal-clear lakes.

After breakfast, today’s adventure is a speedboat voadeira through the Preguiças River Route (an Environmental Protection Area). Enjoy the beautiful landscape and the typical mangrove vegetation as well as some regional animals and birds. Stop first at Vassouras Community where Guariba monkey are protected, then continue to the Mandacaru community, to see the Preguiças Lighthouse and Caburé. After a boat transfer to Atins, you will be taken to your hotel.

Today, you will discover Atins. Take a 4x4 trip to the sand dunes for a stroll and then to the nearby lagoons before the breath-taking beach of Canto do Atins. Lunch today is a rustic affair of grilled or fried fish and shrimp (this meal is not included), then relax in a hammock nearby before a calm return to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and relaxing.

Today, take a speedboat around the Rio Preguiças Circuit (an Environmental Protection Area). Stop at Caburé and take a 4x4 to Tutóia. From here, take the trail to the small Lençois – a perfect photo opportunity.

Today, you will transfer to Tatus Harbour and embark on a speedboat ride through the Delta of the Americas by the Bay of Brave Feijão. During the trip, you will stop off on the way at various island from Igarapé dos Periquitos, Ilha dos Poldros, Baía do Feijão Bravo, Island of the Canaries and Morro Branco, with stops for bathing and photos and drop of at the hotel.

Hop back in the 4x4 to travel to Jericoacoara via Camocim crossing the Coreaú River by ferry, crossing Ilha do Amor, Tatajuba, Lagoa da Torta, Guriú and Mangue Seco. At Jericoacoara, you will enjoy this ecological paradise and there is plenty to do along the coastline of beaches, dunes, clear freshwater lakes and warm natural pools. The Duna do Pôr do Sol (Sunset Dune) is a must-see in the late afternoon. This is also the place for watersports. Windsurfers and kitesurfers come here from around the world and you can also take part in less extreme sports such as canoeing, fishing, capoeira, boating, horse riding and cycling.

After a leisurely breakfast at La Villa Praia, you will travel by buggy in a tour for the morning. This will take you around the beach of Preá, Lagoa Azul, Paradise and Pedra Furada stopping along the way for a dip and some relaxation. Once back at the hotel, the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish.

After breakfast, you will take part in an exciting half-day buggy tour by the West Side of Jericoacoara and have fun going up and down the dunes. Later in the day, you will visit desert beaches, the new and old town of Tatajuba and its tranquil lagoon, the perfect place to relax on a hammock on the water and sip a soothing coconut water.

Today, you will travel again by 4x4 to Guajiru, a little fishing village. Named after a native fruit, this community is built around a pale sands beach and fisherman's cove. Experience the local businesses centred around fishing, tourism and handicraft. moved here in search of fishing and farmland. Here, your accommodation is all about relaxation and retreat.

Take your time over breakfast at the hotel because you now are on your own schedule. With two days to relax, enjoy the local paradise beach and all of the amenities at the hotel. After breakfast at the hotel, you have a relaxed morning before checking out at noon and then heading back to Fortaleza Airport and your flight back to the UK.
