Santiago offers a mix of European cultures, laid-back Andean vibes and mesmerising mountain views. Its trendy neighbourhoods beg to be explored on foot. Wander the wide boulevards, gaze up at the imposing architecture and get lost in some of the best museums and galleries South America has to offer.

Puerto Montt
Today starts with a short flight to Puerto Montt, a port in the south of the Lake District. Here forest-filled National Parks drape across the land and clear lakes reflect the snow-capped volcanoes. Soak up the lakeside atmosphere, chat to locals and learn about handicrafts at the fish market. On to Puerto Varas to enjoy lake views of the famous Osorno volcano. Read about the myths of the Mapuchi Indians, a huge part of the region's culture.
Chiloe
Isla Grande de Chiloe really does feel like the Southernmost tip of the world. It is a magical wonderland where beliefs in ancient superstitions still linger. The rolling landscape is circled by the Pacific and dotted with pretty colourful fishing villages and wonderful stilt houses. Chat to the islanders on your day trip to learn about their traditions and mysterious tales, before you feast on fresh oysters.
Puerto Varas
The Lake District is famed for its leafy forests, glittering waterfalls and picturesque towns. Here iconic Andes peaks wink down from crystal skies. The pretty alpine-style town of Puerto Varas is a great base to explore the surrounding area. Stroll round the lakes, hike a volcano, visit the monkey puzzle forests, or sail across marvellous Lake Llanquihueon.
Punta Arenas - Ushuaia
For the next four days you’ll explore the 'uttermost ends of the earth', navigating the Beagle Channel, revel in the stories of pioneering explorers. Magellanic penguin, sea lion and myriad birdlife are all easy to see close to your comfortable cabin. Explore the Marinelli Glacier as you sail towards Tuckers Island and Pia Glacier, hiking to a spectacular lookout point. Sail through Glacier Alley and step ashore at Cape Horn National Park to visit Wulaia Bay.
Ushuaia - Buenos Aires
All Patagonia wild adventures must come to an end and on the fifth day you will reach Ushuaia, the gateway town to Argentina. We suggest savouring a famous hot chocolate whilst waiting for your plane. You will take to the skies to the Paris of Latin America, Argentina's intoxicating and sexy capital, Buenos Aires.
Buenos Aires
Wander through the city’s colourful balconied barrios (neighbourhoods) and tree-lined boulevards flanked by magnificent architecture. Visit a nearby estancia (ranch) for wine tasting or a delicious traditional barbecue, called an asado. Browse for souvenirs at the sprawling antiques market in San Telmo and chic designer shops in Recoleta. End the day watching dresses swirl and limbs twirl at the city's iconic Tango Show at Esquina Carlos Gardel.
Buenos Aires - UK
Buenos Aires has it all, but be warned, it's addictive. We are pretty certain you'll board your plane back home today feeling sure that you will be meeting her again. Today's flight is a direct overnight flight back to London.
