Why Paris?
A global centre for fashion, gastronomy, art and culture, Paris has long attracted visitors from around the world. Paris is beautiful at any time of the year. The city takes on a new personality for each season but, in the summer months, the sun shines particularly brightly.
The city centre contains the most popular of its attractions, including Notre Dame, the Louvre and the iconic Eiffel Tower. It’s also smaller than many European cities, so we recommend you spend some time just exploring on foot. From the historic monuments with their sheer scale, to the intimate scenes of daily life that spill out along the banks, bridges and boulevards of the Seine, there is something around every corner.
And of course, the food is exceptional. On a warm day, experience the best of Paris with a cafe au lait and a freshly-baked slice of caramelised Flan Parisien, enjoyed with a book in the Luxembourg Gardens. At night, try traditional bistro fare at Paul-Bert, a former butcher’s, with its zinc-topped bar and colourful tiled floor. Finish your evening with a glass of vin rouge at La Cave des Abbesses, where you can buy a bottle to take home.
