Where in the world

Puerto Cayo, Ecuador

Enjoy the ultimate sea-to-plate experience when you pick your own oysters. Journey to an isolated island with the expert chef from Tanusas Resort & Spa to seek the best selection of ceviche for today’s lunch.

You will travel by boat to the private islet located only eight kilometres from the Pacific eco-friendly beach resort. Help chef collect the catch of the day and learn how to pick the best oysters. Once you have collected your haul of seafood you will have a go at shucking the oysters and preparing the ceviche by the beach.

This is a gastronomic activity for adventurous foodies, who know how much better food tastes when it is prepared under the sun with fine wine, attentive service and in stimulating company. It’s no surprise to learn that the restaurant at Tanusas is run by Alain Ducasse-trained chef Rodrigo Pacheco.  BocaValdivia is a hothouse of culinary creativity, from fishing and foraging, as you will see during your visit.

Additional notes about the tour

This experience is exclusive to those staying at Las Tanusas Resort & Spa and is dependent on the tide.

This is recommended for teenagers and above – due to the rocky islet and the fact children tend to dislike eating oysters, which is the main part of this experience.
