Mini honeymoon

Seemingly endless blue skies and sunny days await in Oman; and autumn through to spring is the ideal time to enjoy them. In addition, a manageable seven-hour direct flight and an authentic experience of Arabia with plenty of luxury thrown in makes this a fantastic honeymoon choice.

Flying straight into Muscat and checking into The Chedi allows you to begin in style. This gorgeous beachside hotel is designed with couples in mind and is a far cry from the larger glitzy hotels some parts of the Middle East are known for. Muscat itself is a very pleasant Arabian capital. Tour the city to discover some of its famous sites, including Sultan Qaboos Mosque. Allow time at the Muttrah souk and fish market to experience the lively trading atmosphere, and perhaps haggle over some exquisite jewellery or intricately-patterned carpets.

Muscat is just one of the many settlements along Oman’s 600 miles of coastline. If you tire of relaxing on the beach, why not head out to sea in style aboard a private yacht in search of the many dolphins off the coast? Snorkelling is fun too, as the crystal-clear waters are bursting with sea life. Alternatively, we can organise a visit to Raz al-Jinz, a sandy bay where green turtles come in to nest throughout the year.

However, there is so much more to Oman than the coast. The journey to the Al Hajar Mountains passes through valleys, canyons and traditional settlements. You can walk through forest-clad gorges in the foothills or meander through ancient cliff-top villages. There are some excellent small boutique hotels, many of which have incredible mountain views. The ancient town of Nizwa is one of the region’s hubs, with a lively souk full of locals and several impressive forts.

Switching south will take you into the wonderful desert landscape of Wahiba Sands. Lying amongst the silky dunes, Desert Nights Camp offers a luxurious getaway in the heart of Oman’s sandy interior. An exhilarating four-wheel; drive takes you to the top of the dunes for sunset views over the desert before you return to camp for an Omani barbecue and tales around the campfire.

A honeymoon in Oman will set your heart racing. Experience Arabian deserts, bustling markets and gorgeous coasts on this trip of a lifetime. To begin your adventure, speak to our honeymoon experts; we’ll endeavour to fulfil your every wish with a bespoke itinerary to suit the two of you.
