Ancient treasures on the banks of the Nile

Luxor has often been described as the world's greatest open-air museum. It has an unparallelled archaeological heritage. For many, a Luxor holiday is the trip of a lifetime. Ancient Thebes was the original capital of Ancient Egypt. Whatever it’s name, this area has been attracting travellers since time immemorial. Even as far back as the late dynasties of the Greek and Roman periods, visitors flocked to the area and have been doing so, ever since.

It was the early Arab travellers who, admiring the city for its numerous scattered ruins, gave Luxor its name which in Arabic means ‘the palaces’. Luxor is situated in Upper Egypt, in the province of Qena. The city is comprised of three different areas: the City of Luxor on the east side of the Nile, the town of Karnak just north of Luxor and Thebes, on the west. Our Luxor tours will help you uncover the treasures of this remarkable region including the Luxor and Karnak Temples and the monuments, temples and tombs of the Theban Necropolis on the West Bank, the site of the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens.

There is so much to see on a Luxor holiday but, if you only do one thing, we recommend that it’s Karnak Temple’s spectacular Sound & Light Show. Watch as the area's ancient splendour is brought gloriously back to life.
