Why we like it
- Basecamp Hotel in the heart of Longyearbyen is decorated in traditional trapper's style with driftwood, sealskins, pictures and objects that illustrate the past and current trappers' life in the Arctic
- With just 16 rooms and two suites Basecamp Hotel has an exclusive feel. Its small size ensures that you receive the best possible service throughout your stay
- Triple rooms boast bunk beds which make for an authentic stay. All the rooms have wi-fi and private en suites
- The property has beautiful views over the town and towards the snow-capped mountains
About Basecamp Hotel
With no televisions in the rooms, Basecamp Hotel provides the perfect retreat to switch off, relax and reconnect with nature. After the day's adventures, we recommend kicking back with a drink in the cognac attic (where there is a large screen). The glass ceiling affords awe-inspiring views of the surrounding wilderness. You can enjoy breakfast in the Traveller's Club, but for lunch and dinner we recommend heading into town. We love the acclaimed Huset restaurant. If you want to venture out deeper into the settlement, grab one of the hotel's bicycles before picking up your packed lunch from the reception to take with you on your tour. Just remember to stay inside the settlement to avoid unwanted encounters with the polar bears!
