UK – San José

Upon arrival, you’ll be met and taken to your hotel by an A&K team member before gathering for a welcome cocktail (or mocktail) with your fellow travellers and local guide.

San José

This morning, go on scavenger hunt before climbing to the top of Poás – one of the world’s most accessible volcanic craters. Peer in and you’ll be able to see the bubbling blue cauldron and active fumaroles in the inner crater. This afternoon, you’ll visit a local school to donate school supplies and spend some time with the children. Before returning to your hotel, you’ll head to La Paz Waterfall Gardens to be wowed by the spectacular waterfall.

San José – Arenal

This morning head to Arenal and visit La Fortuna, a very pretty town. After admiring views of the Arenal Volcano, it’s on to a Sky Trek to reach the top of Arenal reserve. Unmissable fun, thanks to a system of zip-lines you can walk atop the vast rainforest and see the stunning landscape from above.

Arenal

This morning, go on an inflatable raft tour. Along the way see if you can spot the sloth, crocodile and turtle that call this stunning part of the world home. Later in the afternoon, you’ll be offered a unique chance to learn about, and see, some Costa Rican wildlife up close. You will be able to volunteer on this activity to help out with animal rehabilitation.

Arenal – Fortuna River – Arenal

Transfer a short distance to a traditional country estate and enjoy green pastures, plantations, woodland, tropical gardens and the Fortuna River. Spend time with the local community who will happily share with you their culture, traditions and give you an introduction to their rural way of life.

Arenal - Guanacaste

Today take a boat tour to Palo Verde National Park. Palo Verde is the largest area of wetland in Costa Rica. Simultaneously, it’s one of the best examples of tropical dry forests left anywhere in the world. Home to crocodile, iguana, lizard and monkey, you’ll spend the day exploring this fascinating part of the country.

Guanacaste

Spend some time relaxing today with your full-day pass to Costa Rica’s thermal river, natural river pools and hot springs. However, if you’re looking for more of an adventure, there’s also the chance to take part in a canopy tour, which has hundreds of zip-lines to whizz along. There is also the opportunity to enjoy a guided hike.

Guanacaste – Tamarindo

Today it’s off to Tamarindo, Costa Rica’s top surf destination. This is a popular beach location. There is no shortage of restaurants serving up delicious food, and fun activities to be enjoyed. After spending the day horse riding or surfing, enjoy the most beautiful sunset over the ocean before heading out for dinner.

Tamarindo

Today will be at your leisure giving you the opportunity to explore this well-liked part of the country. Explore the shops, grab one final wave or simply spend your last day on the beach. The choice is yours.

Depart Tamarindo

Say adiós to Costa Rica and transfer to the airport for your flight home, or stay on in Tamarindo for a couple of days.
