UK - Beijing

After an overnight flight the family fun begins in Beijing, a city where travellers young and old can explore a Forbidden City and ride rickshaws through the narrow old alleys. Don’t miss the chance to make steamy dumplings with a local family. Best of all, you won’t be just scaling the iconic Great Wall of China: after a historical primer, you actually get to whizz down it on a toboggan!

Xi’an

The Terracotta Warriors will be brought to life on your Family China experience. This 8,000-strong life-size army, complete with horses and chariots, was sculpted near Xian over 2,000 years ago. On your visit, a guide will eerily bring the warriors to life before giving you the chance to make your very own! The fun doesn’t stop at moulding ceramic soldiers. Later, you get to cycle right around Xi’an atop its ancient, yet perfectly preserved, city walls.

Chengdu

There are few animals as adorable as China's national treasure, the giant panda. And there's nowhere better to get up close with them than at Chengdu's Breeding Research Base. Home to over a hundred giant and red pandas, you can learn all about their habits and habitats. See the cubs tumbling about in the nursery and volunteer to be a keeper for the day, which grants you behind-the-scenes access.

Yangtze

The Yangtze is the world’s third longest river, set in a landscape full of natural wonders. On a three-day voyage aboard the opulent Sanctuary Yangzi Explorer, you'll navigate its most stunning stretch. Sail through the sheer-sided Three Gorges, spot amazing rice terraces and cliff-clinging villages. You can even help pole longboats at Batong. At the awesome locks of Three Gorges Dam incredible engineering and natural beauty combine to stunning effect.

Shanghai - UK

Cosmopolitan Shanghai provides a fantastic finale. Here, you can experience the best of China, old and new. One moment you’ll be learning to play folk drums in the nearby water town of Zhujiajiao, the next you’ll be tiptoeing out on the glass-floored skywalk atop the 500-metre-high World Finance Centre. On the plane home, you won’t believe how many unforgettable memories your family has amassed in just 14 days.
